Hello, new listener.
From box to play in about five minutes in five easy steps.
Meet your player.
Up front: the screen and the click wheel — MENU up top, skip on the sides, play/pause at the bottom, select in the middle. Flip it over to the bottom edge and you'll find everything else:
- Power button — press and hold to turn on or off. Yes, it's on the bottom. Retro, remember?
- USB-C port — for charging and nothing else. There's no data connection to worry about.
- Headphone jack — plugs straight into the included kid-size earbuds.
Charge it right.
Plug the included USB-C cable into the port on the bottom edge and charge with a 5V-1A charger — the small, standard wall brick most households have a drawer full of.
- Any basic phone charger rated 5V-1A (or a computer USB port) is perfect.
- Skip the high-wattage fast chargers made for laptops and modern phones — this little guy likes a gentle sip, not a firehose.
- Charge it fully before the first listen for the best battery life.
Three ways to listen.
Out of the box it just plays — through the built-in speaker or the included earbuds in the headphone jack. Want to pair Bluetooth headphones?
- Open Bluetooth from the main menu and switch the toggle on.
- Put your headphones in pairing mode.
- Open Available Devices and select them from the list. Done — they'll reconnect automatically next time.
Add anything with the Storybutton App.
The easiest way to put new content on your player: the Storybutton App. Pop the micro SD card into the included USB-C adapter, plug it into your phone, and any podcast is 3 clicks from your player.
- Download any podcast onto the card — kids' favorites, audiobooks, your own picks
- Create original music albums — turn any idea into a song
- Stream all the Storybutton Originals right in the app
- See what's on the card and manage space at a glance
Snip the ads out.
Downloaded a podcast that has ads baked into its episodes? The app has scissors. Every Storybutton Original is already ad-free — this is for everything else you bring aboard.
- On the Card tab, tap the ⋯ next to any episode and choose Edit audio.
- Tap Remove Ads, then select the stretch of audio you want gone on the waveform.
- Tap Process Changes — the cleaned-up episode is saved right back to the card.
Press play. We'll handle the rest.
